“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
I am a licensed psychologist, with my doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacific University. I completed a doctoral internship at Colorado State University in 2013 and went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship there in 2014, specializing in behavioral health and intensive outpatient treatment.  In addition to my doctoral training, I have been engaged in ongoing Gestalt therapy training for a decade, and have completed advanced training and supervision in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples.

HOW I PRACTICE
I use a contemporary Gestalt therapy approach when working with individuals in psychotherapy. Gestalt therapy is focused on developing awareness and acceptance of what is actually happening in the moment. When awareness and acceptance grows, it frees us to become grounded and alive in new ways. As an engaged therapist, I will listen fully, help you to understand and experience yourself as a whole person, challenge you to try out new approaches, and support you in moving forward. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) orients how I work with couples. EFT is an evidenced-based therapy in which couples tend to become more connected and secure with one another. EFT can transform relationships by understanding the patterns in which we get stuck, identifying barriers to vulnerability, and understanding how to reach out to each other in ways that enables greater security, connection, and joy.

AM I A GOOD FIT FOR YOU?
I can help with a range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and recovery from trauma. I also specialize in working with concerns related to gender identity and transition.

WHAT CLIENTS TEND TO SAY
Clients tend to give me feedback that I am nonjudgmental, spacious, and exploratory in my approach. Clients tend to be surprised by the degree of sustainable shifts that occur of the course of our work together.
